In the hot savannah grasslands, two snakes lived far apart but hated each other more than anything. One was Slink, a clever green snake with glittering eyes and a mind as sharp as his fangs. The other was Fang, a large, angry brown snake who always hissed and bullied the animals nearby.

Now, Slink wasn’t strong, but he was smart. He wanted to get rid of Fang without fighting him. And that’s when he thought of a plan: a very sneaky one.

One morning, Slink slithered through the grass to find Monty, a bold little mongoose with bright eyes and sharp teeth. Monty was quick on his feet and very brave. You see, mongooses aren’t afraid of snakes at all! In fact, they’re known for chasing them, fighting them, and winning! With their fast moves and thick fur, they can dodge snake bites and strike back like lightning: WHAM! SNAP!

Slink knew Monty loved a good challenge.

“Monty, oh mighty hunter,” Slink hissed sweetly, wrapping himself into a neat coil, “I come with news.”

Monty sat up tall. “What kind of news, Slink?”

“There’s a snake bigger than me,” said Slink, lowering his voice. “His name is Fang. He’s rude, mean, and he’s scaring the baby mongooses near the river bend.”

Monty’s eyes narrowed. “The river bend? That’s my hunting ground!”

Slink nodded, faking a sad sigh. “If only someone brave enough could chase him away.”

Monty jumped to his feet. “I’ll take care of it!”

Slink smiled to himself.

Later that day, Monty crept through the grass near the river. Just as Slink said, there was Fang, sunbathing on a flat rock, flicking his tongue lazily.

Before Fang could say “Hiss?”, Monty leapt forward: WHOOSH! CRACK!

The fight began! Fang slithered and snapped, but Monty was too fast: DASH! CHOMP! THUD!

The Cunning Snake’s Trick

Fang yelped and slithered off, his tail zigzagging behind him. He didn’t even stop to hiss goodbye. He vanished deep into the woods, never to be seen again.

From the safety of a nearby bush, Slink watched it all with a smug grin.

With Fang gone, Slink took over the river bend. No more hissing matches. No more stolen food. Just peace, sunshine, and plenty of tasty eggs and frogs to eat.

As the weeks passed, Slink grew fat and shiny, his belly always full, his eyes always bright.

And whenever Monty passed by, Slink would nod and say, “Thank you, my brave friend,” with a little smile. Monty would puff up proudly, never knowing he had been part of a very clever plan.
