Cluck and Peck prepared for their bold mission. They packed crumbs for food and leaves for shelter, their little hearts set on finishing what they had started. With their sharp claws and trusty beaks, they ventured into the dark forest, following the faint trail of the velociraptor.
After days of searching, they found themselves at the entrance of a shadowy cave late one night. From inside, they heard the low, steady sound of snoring. The velociraptor was fast asleep.
Cluck and Peck exchanged a look. “This is our chance,” whispered Cluck.
Quiet as a breeze, the two chickens crept into the cave, the moonlight barely lighting the way. They could see the massive body of the velociraptor sprawled across the cave floor, its chest rising and falling with each breath.
But as they drew closer, Cluck’s feathers bristled. “Wait,” he muttered. “Something’s not right…” Before Cluck could finish, the velociraptor’s eye snapped open. It wasn’t asleep at all, it was pretending! It had set a trap!
With a thunderous roar, the beast leapt to its feet, claws gleaming and tail whipping like a lash.
The chickens squawked in alarm as the velociraptor lunged. They darted in opposite directions, narrowly escaping its snapping jaws. Cluck flapped up and landed on the raptor’s head, scratching wildly at its scales. Meanwhile, Peck dashed under its legs, pecking at its feet to trip it up.
The cave echoed with the sounds of their battle. The velociraptor roared in frustration, swiping at Cluck with one claw and kicking at Peck with its powerful legs. The brothers fought bravely, dodging and attacking with all their might.
But the raptor was clever. It spun suddenly, its tail sweeping both chickens off their feet and sending them tumbling. In one swift motion, it pinned Cluck to the ground and turned its fierce gaze on Peck. Peck, undeterred, leapt at the raptor’s face and jabbed his beak into its eye.
The beast let out a terrible cry, thrashing as it covered its wounded face. Cluck and Peck used the moment to wriggle free, but not without cost. The velociraptor’s claws had ripped through their feathers, leaving them almost bare.
Bleeding and furious, the raptor stomped towards them, but its blindness made it stumble into the cave walls. Cluck and Peck, battered and featherless, knew they couldn’t win this fight.
“Retreat!” Cluck called, and the two brothers scrambled towards the cave entrance. Behind them, the velociraptor roared in rage but didn’t follow, still blinded and in pain.
Under the pale moonlight, the chickens limped back to the forest. Though they had lost their feathers, they had fought with all their courage and left the velociraptor wounded and wary.
As they rested beneath the trees, Peck turned to Cluck. “We may have lost our feathers, but we haven’t lost our fight.”
Cluck nodded. “We’ll heal, and one day, we’ll be ready again.”
And so, the two chicken brothers, featherless but unbroken, rested under the stars, their courage shining brighter than ever. The velociraptor, now one-eyed, had learned to fear the tiny but mighty warriors of the forest.
