Just as they were leaving Atlantis, their hearts full of wonder, a colossal shadow fell over them. It was menacing, immense, and utterly mysterious. From the gloom emerged a crab, but not just any crab. This creature was the size of a blue whale, much larger than Rexie and Marlo combined! Its massive claws clicked menacingly, its beady eyes fixed on the trio.

“Well, well, well,” a booming voice echoed through the water. “Look what we have here. A tasty snack, delivered right to me.”

The giant crab explained that it was once a small crab that scavenged for food in shallow waters. One day, it was trapped in a cage set by fishermen. It was about to be brought up to the surface when it used all of its strength to break out of the cage. It quickly fled and tried to return home, but it could not find the way, and it kept searching for a long time. Poseidon, the legendary god of the sea, had been so impressed by its determination that he had bestowed a magical gift upon it: immense size. The crab had become a monstrous hunter, the top predator of the deep. And Rexie, Marlo, and Lumi looked like a delicious meal.

Rexie gulped. He might be a powerful swimmer, but this crab was enormous! Marlo, despite his bravery, trembled. Even Lumi’s light flickered nervously. They were now the hunted.

“Run!” Rexie roared, his voice echoing through the underwater city. He knew they couldn’t fight this behemoth. Their only chance was to escape.

Lumi, quick as a flash, darted into a narrow corridor between two buildings. “Follow me!” he squeaked, his light disappearing into the darkness.

Rexie, using his powerful tail, propelled himself forward, Marlo struggling to keep up. The giant crab, surprisingly agile for its size, scuttled after them, its massive claws snapping. The chase was on.

The crab was relentless, its heavy footsteps shaking the very foundations of the city. Rexie, remembering some tunnels they had seen earlier, led them towards a dark, unexplored passage.

“This way!” he shouted, swimming into the narrow opening. It was a tight squeeze, even for Rexie, and Marlo had to wriggle and squirm to get through. Lumi, being the smallest, had the easiest time.

The tunnel twisted and turned, leading them deeper into the darkness. Behind them, they could hear the crab’s frustrated clicks and growls as it tried to follow them into the narrow passage. The tunnel was too small for the giant crab to follow!

Finally, they emerged into a hidden cave, far from the crab’s reach. They were safe, for now. Panting and exhausted, they huddled together, their hearts still pounding.

“That was close,” Marlo gasped, his arms shaking with fear.

“Too close,” Rexie agreed. “We need to find another way out of Atlantis, a way the crab can’t follow.”

Lumi, his light now steady and bright, looked around the cavern. “Maybe there’s another passage?”

And so, they began to explore the cave, hoping to find an escape route, knowing that the giant crab was still out there, lurking in the shadows of Atlantis, waiting for them to return. Their adventure had taken a terrifying turn, but they were determined to survive.
