Suri the Giant Squid floated in the cold, dark waters of the deep sea, his tentacles swaying as he swam toward home. It had been a long time since he had seen his parents, and though he was sad to leave his friends behind, he knew he had to go.

“See you soon!” Masher had rumbled as Suri waved his tentacle goodbye.

Max the mosasaurus and Oscar the silvery oarfish had both wished him luck on his journey. Then, with one final glance at his friends, he had turned and descended into the deep abyss.

Days passed. The water grew colder, darker, and emptier. Suri’s body ached with exhaustion, and his stomach rumbled. Food was scarce in the deep, and he hadn’t eaten in a while. His mind started playing tricks on him: shadows moving where there were none, flickers of light that vanished when he turned his head.

Then, suddenly, he felt something. Something was watching him.

He spun around. And then he saw them.

A pair of enormous, glowing eyes, much bigger than his own, staring at him through the dark. Out of the black abyss, a massive creature emerged. It was a leviathan, a giant sea serpent.

It was at least twice his size, its long, powerful body coiling through the water like an endless rope of scales. Its jaws bristled with row upon row of needle-sharp fangs, snapping menacingly.

“You are far from home, little squid,” the leviathan rumbled, its deep voice sending a shiver down Suri’s mantle.

Suri swallowed hard. “I… I don’t want trouble.”

The leviathan’s coils flexed. “But I do.”

WHOOSH!

The leviathan lunged, its massive coils wrapping around Suri, squeezing tight.

Suri twisted and spun, lashing out with his own tentacles. THWACK! He struck the leviathan across the face, but it barely flinched.

CHOMP! The leviathan’s fangs sank into Suri’s side, making him cry out in pain.

Suri shot a cloud of ink, trying to escape, but the leviathan’s coils only squeezed tighter.

“You’re weak,” the leviathan growled, coiling tighter around him. “And now, you’re mine.”

Its massive jaws opened wide, rows of fangs gleaming, ready to devour him whole.

Suri closed his eyes, thinking it was over.

Then—

WHOOSH! CRASH! ROOOOAR!

A massive force slammed into the leviathan, making its coils loosen. Suri gasped and opened his eyes.

His friends were here!

Masher charged, his powerful jaws snapping at the leviathan’s coiling body. Max the mosasaurus darted in, ramming into its side with his powerful tail. Oscar, though not a fierce fighter, thrashed his long body against the leviathan’s coils, whipping and battering it with all his strength.

“You’re not eating our friend!” Masher roared.

The leviathan hissed in fury, thrashing its massive coils at them.

SWOOSH! Suri, regaining his strength, wrapped his own tentacles around the leviathan’s coiling body, locking it in place.

“Now, Masher!” he shouted.

CHOMP!

Masher bit down hard, and the leviathan let out a pained hiss, thrashing wildly before finally retreating into the darkness.

Bitey and Squiddy: Battle in the deep

The battle was over.

Suri, panting, looked at his friends in disbelief. “H-how did you find me?”

Masher grinned. “We decided to visit your home and surprise you!”

Max nodded. “Good thing we did!” Oscar added, “That leviathan was mean! We weren’t gonna let it take you down!”

Suri smiled, feeling warmth in his heart. “You guys… you saved me.”

Masher flicked his tail. “Of course! That’s what friends do.”

The four of them floated together in the deep, victorious. And with his friends beside him, Suri wasn’t afraid anymore.

Together, they swam toward his home, ready for whatever adventure came next.

The End.
