The Story Behind This Site
When my son was 3, I promised myself I’d read to him every night before bed. As you can imagine, I quickly ran out of children’s books and stories navigable from my phone.
That’s when it started: improvised bedtime stories, born from desperation and the sound of a five-year-old saying, “Dad, tell me another one.” His favourite subjects changed monthly — dinosaurs, sea creatures, and magical forests. So I started writing them down, polishing them, and sharing them with other parents in the same boat.
This site is what grew from that.
What You’ll Find Here
Short bedtime stories — most under 10 minutes to read aloud. The kind you can tell without getting tangled in a 200-page epic when everyone’s already half-asleep.
A mix of styles:
- Original stories
- Retellings and expansions of classic folk tales and fables
- Stories tagged by age group, theme, and origin so you can find what fits your child
Don’t read these word-for-word if you don’t want to! Feel free to improvise, skip bits, add your own details. These are meant to be starting points, not scripts.
Got a Story? We’d Love It
If you’ve written a bedtime story you think other parents would enjoy, I’d love to hear about it. The same goes for feedback, suggestions, or tales of how your child reacted to a particular story.

If your story makes it onto this site, I’ll credit you by name and link. This is a community project — the more voices and styles, the better.
